DRIVERS (2012-2015) was a three-year research project funded by the EU's 7th Framework Programme. It aimed to find solutions to improve health equity through policy and practice in early childhood, fair employment, and income & social protection. It was co-ordinated by EuroHealthNet and involved leading research centres and organisations representing public health, civil society and business.
Highlights:
- Production of new evidence of pervasive social gradients in health connected with early childhood, fair employment, and income & social protection.
- Case studies across Europe, shedding light on the new evidence and providing information about context and how interventions and policies are experienced.
- Development of an evidence base on advocacy for health equity in the European context.
- Final events targeted at practitioners, researchers and policy makers.
- Publication of numerous articles in peer-review journals, public scientific reports, case study synthesis reports, policy briefs, and final recommendations for policy and practice.
Final recommendations:
- Goldblatt P, Siegrist J, Lundberg O, Marinetti C, Farrer L & Costongs C (2015). Improving health equity through action across the life course: Summary of evidence and recommendations from the DRIVERS project.
